IPrime Welcomes Sappi, our 1st South African Company

IPrime is pleased to announce our newest member company, Sappi. They are our 1st South African Company.

Sappi Fine Paper North America's roots can be traced back as far as 1854 to the S.D. Warren Company, who owned and operated the Westbrook mill and several other U.S. paper mills, up until its acquisition by Sappi Fine Paper North America in 1995. Though Sappi's North American past is deeply rooted in our nation's papermaking heritage, our future will always be marked by our global presence -- reaching four continents.

Today we are the preeminent producer of coated fine paper in North America -- with a production capacity of 1.3 million tons of paper annually. We are also responsible for many industry firsts, such as the first paper coated and calendered on two sides, first dull coated paper, and the first mill branded LOE paper. Later, LOE became the first premium sheet with 30% post-consumer waste content. We were also the first to implement Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF) bleaching practices at all of our pulp mills

Sappi continues to invest in projects to reduce solid waste, wastewater and air emissions, and improve water and energy utilization. Each of our mills implements internationally-recognized environmental management systems to ensure that current and planned operations and expansions meet all legislative requirements. We are also committed to improving the communities where our employees live and work. Through corporate sponsorships that support education and science, we firmly believe in investing both money and time in the health and well-being of our communities.
