Collaborative UMN research team develops sugar-derived copolymers for sustainable applications

Researchers in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (CEMS) and Department of Chemistry at the University of Minnesota have created a new material that is the first bio-based block copolymer with the potential to match petroleum-based polyester elastomers and hard plastics in both cost and performance. The research was recently featured in Chemical & Engineering News.
